Mayu Watanabe's name is misspelled as "Mayu Watanbe" in the headline.

In fact, one of their new singles this year broke record sales, beating those of any other idol group before it.

That information (article) is actually incorrect (the source is correct though). The sales of that single "Mae Shika Mukanee" had only increased the total sales of "all" CD's of AKB48, which broke the record of most amount of CD sold of all idol group in Japan's history. That single also extended their record of continuously ranking #1 at Oricon for first day/week or extending the record of having a million seller... The sales of that single itself did not make any records on it's own ^___^;;;...

I wonder how much their CDs would sell if they didn't come with those vote vouchers attached. That's of course an experiment they'll never be willing to do.

AKB48 even made the news in the UK recently with a article on the group in the Metro newspaper due to the attack on two of the members.

A lot of news coverages didn't say it, but actually...

Kawaei Rina, one of the two girls who got attacked, got into the Senbatsu (top 16 girls for the main single). When they announced her name, she actually appeared on the stage (from the 1:25 to 8:00 mark), to give a speech, but had to leave shortly after. In a different channel, that was airing this, she with the newly graduated, Oshima Yuko who was watching it. c:

EDIT: Also, I forgot to add, Ikoma Rina recently became part of the Senbatsu, and she has a concurrent position on AKB48 and Nogizaka46 (who sung Tsuki no Okisa, the 14th Opening to Naruto), and she's a huge fan of Shounen Jump, especially Naruto, One Piece, and Sket Dance. c:

Every time see AKB48, I keep wondering if they're like I-1 Club from "Wake Up Girls!".
