Ah, Silver Spoon. Really hope that one gets a 3rd season, as the 2nd left off at an interesting point. Still, great series overall.
On Tamako Market, feels like a show that doesn't know what it wants to do, and I feel that way because it doesn't see anything through. Yeah, it's predominately SoL, but they throw in stuff like the romance and Dera's mission...only to throw both to the side for much of the show. I wonder what the movie is like. |

I pretty much disagree that the dub is "pretty good". It's not horrible but it's not anything I'd call good, but rather "slightly above average" in a world where most dubs (the average) are pretty bad |

The tonal shift in Stella C3 really lowered my enjoyment of the show. I wonder if this was just a pacing problem of the anime or just poorly done originally.
Did they change/translate the name in the dub or was this in the subs on the retail release? I watched this on TAN and I'm sure the name was left as Dera Mochimazzi along with an on-screen note to explain the mochi mazui reference. I also thought the best parts of the show were the romantic elements and agree that they were lacking, so I'm looking forward to seeing the movie

I guessed that'd be the case, Love Story was in the title. 
Jokes aside, I'm interested in seeing it...but don't know if I'll get the chance to do so legally. Just hope that it's not too melodramatic, but I'm unsure if it can really carry over the feel of the TV series. |

I haven't seen Silver Spoon but if you ask me Tamako and C3-bu are easily in the 'perishable' zone.
The former is KyoAni sinking to a new low by copying themselves. Granted they've sunk even lower since but I'd rather not get into the whole Chuunibyou milking thing. The end result reminds me a lot of A-Channel. Basically, K-ON without anything that made K-ON good. Then they've also got a sappy romantic subplot that never goes anywhere (Hopefully the movie rectifies this one), an obnoxious talking bird and a whole lot of generic nothing. From what I've seen of the dub I thought it was kind of bad but not exceptionally so. Which is actually above average for Sentai. But the one saving grace it does have is that Jay Hickman is fantastic as Dera. Sure he's just doing his Mechazawa voice again but it fits Dera's personality like a glove and his comic delivery makes him a lot more tolerable than in the Japanese. I like it when a dub can make me like a character I hated in the Japanese. Like how the Highschool DxD dub made me laugh at Issei's jokes. C3-bu is what I like to call a 'slice of life trainwreck'. Get a cast of cute girls with varied charming personalities, get a concept that's ripe with potential for simple fun, go along with it for a good portion of the show, then suddenly go off the path and drag everything down with pointless angst and dumb writing. To this day C3-bu is the only show I've seen that was stupid enough to try it. You can tell how poorly planned out everything was by just looking at the ED. Not only is it completely inappropriate during the more serious parts of the series but for some reason Yura still has long hair in it. It's hilarious how badly Gainax have fallen in recent years.

Tamako was a hell of a lot better than A Channel. The most notable thing about A Channel is how it convinced many critics that its high school girls were in fact in elementary school. Its story is just that memorable. The biggest question I have about Tamako Market is why is it only a dubbed DVD release? It's Kyoto Animation and if the BDs there, it's a buy {maybe even Beyond the Boundary... no, that one was just tedious, even if beautifully so} so I'll wait and see what happens. I found the show enjoyable based on the charisma of the main character alone. Ah, uh, Silver Spoon? Don't care about it. I'd read enough of the manga to know I care even less about the main character than the mangaka does. Without him, we'd get all the same stuff without the being dressed down to exposition; Farming is hard, exact work, almost a science! {what's the word... agriculture. No, that's not it. Horse s***.} So having a guy come in and insult everyone around him who kind of have to live it.... "Ho, it's funny because he thinks they were all rubes! Guess what?!" Cue the Green Acres theme! The last one, what's the last one? C3 Bu? Watched it, never heard of it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. |

Ah yes, Stella C3-bu... the show that started out pretty good and which was fast becoming one of my favourites of that season until they decided to angst things up about halfway through and everything went horribly wrong from there.
There was an R2 release that came with an artbook. I think that it's probably that one. |

It was just a standard CGDCT manga(with airsoft) that Gainax completely fucked over by changing nearly everything, including how the characters acted. It truly deserves its horrible sales(worst selling v1 that we have data on) since its one of the worst anime i've ever seen.
Its a CGDT show, its not supposed to be watched for its story. You know, like Yuru yuri, Kiniro Mosaic, Gochiusa etc.. It fits in with those shows. I agree with Walk7pk on this. It did exactly what it was supposed to do, just like all other kirara manga adaptations. |

I liked Tamako Market a lot more than for example K-On!, although most people have a different opinion. I really liked how the story was more centered about a bunch of characters in a likable environment. It felt like a nice community whereas most other moe shows tend to focus only on a couple of female protagonists.
I also don't think that Tamako Market doesn't know what it wants to be. Sure, it adds different flavors here and there, and it would have been nice to see some things elaborated in greater details, but I really didn't mind. It was a sort of feelgood show that worked perfectly the way it was. It is always a matter of taste, of course, but I don't think Tamako Market is worse than similar works from a objective point of view. It's not a copy-and-paste kind of work, either. |

I love the Kirara stuff but A-Channel was pretty bad. Yuyushiki, Kiniro Mosaic, Hidamari,
K-ON and Gochiusa each have their own unique style to them and vastly different senses of humour. But A-Channel was just... well, there was basically nothing it did particularly well. The only thing that's really unique about it is the character songs in each episode which frankly I could have done without. Put it this way. If every cute girls slice of life show was on the same quality level as A-Channel then I'd have no problem signing up for the 'anti moe brigade' and using all their stupid buzzwords in protest of the 'generic moe shit that airs every season' |

Warning, C3 is HORRIBLE in the second half. There is absolutely nothing fun anymore. The resolution is also a complete ass-pull. I do not recommend this show to anyone. One of Gainax's worst. The catch? None of that angst carp was in the manga, from what I've heard. If it's true, then some idiot at Gainax actually though this was entertaining, and that is very scary. Gainax is dead, time to move on.
