That's great. I was worried when i saw "mental illness" and "comedy," but Japan has a serious problem with ignoring these issues. The word for autism, "Jiheishou," literally means "Self-enclosure syndrome," which makes many Japanese people just think that these people are freaks and hikikkomori. I hope this brings more awareness to the Japanese people, and more acceptance and EMPATHY towards them.

I agree about the whole comical mental illness bit. But after reading the article it doesn't sound too bad. In fact it might be a good thing. Although it definitely feels like its going to be a short series.

I don't know Japanese, but looking at the original name (Manga de Wakaru Shinryōnaika) I'd guess the 'comical' is referring to the fact that it's a manga (comic), not that it's funny. It was probably an instance of poor translation choice.
