Saw it a little bit after it released in Japan, and I think it deserves awards for at least capturing the essence of the manga. I think they did the series justice, and am actually hoping they release more movies in the future (although it most certainly had a definitive ending).

I just watched the 2nd film this week and now I'm super-excited for this one and specifically Fukuyama Masaharu as Hiko Seijuro. I gotta say, I squeed a little (okay, maybe a lot) when we finally got a glimpse of him at the end of Kyoto Inferno.
