I was just about to watch this on Crunchyroll, but now I guess I will wait for the home video releases to come out. Though I'm excited for the releases, I kind of wish they just dubbed it to begin with and that goes for all of their releases. I mean they only release series for home video once in a great while.

A...dub? Everyone who already liked the franchise will likely be drawn into it by the songs and voices as audio is a big part of the franchise. Taking that away seems like a very risky move.

However, with the anime having a re-airing on Disney in Japan, maybe there are plans for it to air on TV? Frozen has shown that there is a big market for animation aimed at young girls and Love Live! could capture some of that with a dub making the show more accessible to a younger audience. Catchy songs, cute outfits and easy to mimic dances could be a big draw.

Not surprising since it's been selling like hot cakes for NIS,so I can't blame them from milking it for all it's worth.

How is anything being taken away? It's being added too, that's literally the whole idea. People can choose what language they want to watch something in....I can't even begin to comprehend how any taking away is present in a situation like that.

I swear I really do not get this fandoms logic a lot of the time. People complain when something doesn't get a dub, but they also sort of complain when something gets one too. Confused

Maybe taking away was the wrong phrase to use. I just think with the Love Live! franchise, the music is such an integral part of the show that a dub is going to have a difficult time trying to replicate the success of the original. Taking away the voices of a show so focused on the music and replacing them with different voices will be a very tricky feat to pull off. It's like watching a concert of your favourite band with a dub.

I'm not against a dub by any means though. As I said, I think the show could be a great success with young girls if it airs on TV with a well made dub.

I was wondering about the prospects of a dub for this ever since Bamboo's write-up on her trip to Japan.

Again there's no taking away, it's a separate audio track that's being added. This isn't the era of VHS anymore where you can only have one audio track present cause you're using analog magnetic tape instead of digital optical storage media. You get the choice which to pick as do others so what exactly is being taken away here? That's the logic I can't understand.

I'm more excited about this than I probably should be.

I never thought the original voice cast was particularly memorable aside from Nico and Honoka, so a dub could turn out pleasant.

On the other hand, it's Nisa. They don't always do a bang-up job.

I can't wait to be a part of that army, once I have these home video releases on my shelves.

There's two ways this can work. Modern dub (subpar) with Japanese singing, or Modern dub with dubbed singing (horrible). The first one will be awkward and the second one will destroy the best parts of this show. Anime with singing just don't transfer well with a dub. Exception singing like in that one episode of Outlaw Star are fine since it's not the selling point of the anime like this is

I hope you ever saw K-on, if not go watch it. Its English dubbed while the songs remain in Japanse. And it works like a gem.

Well, I'd say you did a good job. I didn't pay Love Live much mind until that point, but seeing it featured so prominently made me quite curious.

Lack of an english dub was the only reason I don't already have this in my collection. I enjoyed Beck, Angel Beats, K-on and Wandaba Style. While english songs would be nice, I'd also be fine with the songs in Japanese.

Well if it's Sentai, I'm pretty sure it's going to retain the Japanese language songs as well. Just as they did with The World God Only Knows. It will be weirdly out of place, but there.
