Ben Diskin as Joseph... Hm, interesting choice. Now I'm curious who will voice Jonathan.

Is Joseph Joestar really going to have two seiyuu playing as him? Confused If true, I don't see how this is going to play out well.

Epcar played the older incarnation in the Stardust crusaders dub that was briefly previewed last year.

Ben Diskin is playing the younger version of him and Richard Epcar played him as an old man in Stardust Crusaders. Joseph had two different seiyuu's for those versions in Japan too since Tomokazu Sugita couldn't do the latter without straining himself.

As for the cast pick himself, I haven't heard Ben Diskin voice that kind of character before so I have no clue what it'd sound like but he has a really wide vocal range and he's extremely talented so I'm pretty confident it'll turn out all right. Looking forward to hearing him.

Alright, now I understand. In that case, that's a good thing Joseph has another seiyuu to play as the older version of him. Thanks for clarifying! Smile

Edit: Oh, I've reached 1600 posts!

From what I understand, it was just a simple recast. He did fantastic as Old Joseph in ASB.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will release the anime with the English dub and subtitles on DVD and digital on July 28.

I thought it was getting a dub only release.

If they are doing the first 2 arcs, how come nothing about Jonathan Joestars VA, or are they skipping Phantom Blood

This article isn't about the cast list of the new dub. The only reason it makes mention of Ben Diskin as Joseph Joestar is because he'll actually be at the dub premier at Anime Expo.

I think it's pretty interesting that Warner Bros are licensing the series themselves. Up until now Warner Bros would pretty much just distribute anime that other companies (such as Viz Media) licensed. But now it seems Warner Bros are starting to license anime themselves, rather than just distribute for other companies. It looks like we now have a new anime licensor in town. I hope the JoJo dub becomes hugely successful so they can start licensing more anime.

I'm hoping Warner can get it on TV. Like real TV, or barring that, a Netflix original.

They aren't skipping Phantom Blood. And AX only spilled the beans on Diskin as Joseph. I'd love to see if Patrick Seitz is reprising Dio [I think it would fit him].

Right Stuf actually confirmed a few weeks ago that it will have both.

No, they're not skipping Phantom Blood, as a matter of fact, they gave fans an easy reason to skip it themselves if they wanted to.

Jojo's is a Warner Bros Japan property and since it has a lot of music references (some changed in the subs, with Araki's approval just like with All Star Battle) & old songs used as ED themes, those probably would have made things impossible for any other company (even Viz) to pick up here without there being some kind of problems. The fact that they announced in their press release that it will have "Roundabout" (which is a WB song along with "Last Train Home") has me hopeful that they would keep all of the songs if they release Stardust Crusaders.

As for Warner Home Video licensing more anime, I doubt that will happen but it will be interesting to see what will happen with WB Japan's other show, Terra Formars, especially since Kaze picked up the UK license last month.

NJ: Shout Factory might've had a shot. They got most of the songs and bands in WKRP nailed pretty well.
