About Shin Getter Robo vs Neo Getter Robo

It's one of my favorite anime. I love every character, I love the battles , I love the OST. I love everything. Specially how the characters shouting their attacks' names is justified because the attacks are actually activated with voice commands

True, streaming has become the standard to watch anime, but having physical copies of anime I really like will always be important to me. I only buy expensive, collector's editions for shows that are truly special to me.

Actually that's backwards. Ratio is the one with the eyepatch and Birthday is the one with electric powers.

Same, though in my case I'm probably buying the Japanese BDs and double-dipping if the series is licensed in North America.

@Frank
Very impressive collection. I wish I had that much space to display all my stuff. I sure hope you don't get earthquakes in your area.

I do not like WIXOSS for the reason in the article

It's too serious for a card battle show, to the point of being depressing and somewhat strange to follow.

spoiler[Also the whole Incest subplot is just too annoying, she tries to say she doesn't love him but she does to the point where i wasn't sure if her wish was to make him love her or make herself stop loving him, and the brother comes around on the idea of "Loving" his sister way to quick.]

For me to buy a collector's edition it will greatly depend on the show/game and the items included.

With anime more and more though I prefer just jamming in as many disks into a normal sized case as possible. I was admiring the fact my Princess Knight has like 5 disks in a normal sized case. I still like the packaging to look nice but the less space it can take up the better.

In answer to the question that started the article, I prefer something that is more affordable but less impressive. I would buy a disc in a paper sleeve if it would keep the price down.
Streaming does not work for me, so it is discs or nothing.

I enjoyed Patlabor WXIII and actually liked it more than the other Patlabor movies.
For me it may have been a rather poor Patlabor movie, but it was a good science fiction movie.

I buy physical copies of shows that I really, really enjoyed when they were streaming, as well as the second/third/etc. seasons of shows I already have in my collection. I keep a list (which currently contains 4 first seasons and 5 second seasons) of "shows I will buy when they come out/if they are ever released in Region 1"; that way, I don't get tempted by flashy collector's editions of shows I only kinda-sorta-liked.

WIXOSS takes itself a bit more seriously than the average card battle series, which could explain why it's garnered some decent ratings

Out of the 300+ titles in my ANN "Seen All" list, I've only given 10/10 to FOUR shows. Season two of WIXOSS is one of them, so take from that what you will. Laughing

I've only bought collector's editions twice; once because it was the only option for physical release (Toradora!), and once because i really, really liked the show and wanted to show my support (Knights of Sidonia). I get "Special Editions" pretty often, especially the really nicely packaged ones Funimation does, but i definitely don't make a habit of getting collectors editions.

I actually unilaterally prefer physical media to digital. If i were to buy a show digitally through, say, Amazon, i'd always have the sinking fear that one day i won't be able to access the digital ones and zeros that i bought. Maybe that's irrational, but i just prefer having the physical discs and stuff to handle and display on a shelf.

I love Hamatora. I really do. It was the best show that I watched that season and possibly that year. It seems like I'm the only one that thinks that though. I'm starting to accept that even though I like it it might not be good. (That doesn't mean I can't like it though) I thought the art was not only really well done but unique. The animation was not as unique but still well done. The comedy of the show had me laughing every episode. The characters likable and as you said had interesting back stories. I wasn't that confused by the story. I don't think it was too complicated really. You pretty much explained it all. Moral's plan to make everyone minimum users was kind of dumb like you said but he also seemed insane so having a not well thought out plan would fit his character.

I dunno, are we seeing the same thing and just enjoying it differently or are we not even seeing the same thing?

I agree with the patlabor review. It's very different than the previous two movie but still very good. I couldn't help but feel like it was just using the patlabor name to make its own unrelated story but I didn't particularly mind since the ride was good. There's still some familiarity with the previous movie, like the long shoot of city landscape.

For all the billions and a half show about people with power, I still feel like the setting has lots of potential if only writer bothered to use it for something other than some metaphor for diversity (which I always though was the stupidest metaphor ever, we got nothing to fear of homosexual and different race since there just like us, but super powered human being are obviously different). I wouldn't mind a super serious one were the transformation on society would be investigated if suddenly a bunch of stuff that were impossible or only done by machine were suddenly done by human. I also wouldn't mind if anime was to get its own watchman.

not exactly. for one thing kazuki also had the same feelings for "yuuzuki" but did his best to hide it until ep 9 when she also confessed like there was no tomorrow, then he gave into his feelings as well so it definitely wasnt quick at all. spoiler[However,it Definitely would make things go into overdrive when he find out that is really hanayo and his sister is now an LRIG.]

also you have to give them some kind of credit for the production committee to even touch this storyline

Cause considering when it came to relationships like this, their either stepsiblings like in Oreimo , or cousins like in Tokyo Ravens or in SAO's Fairy Dance arc, in speaking of, is the reason why some people dont like that arc.

I usually buy LE's for shows if they are available. I've only bought two collectors editions (so far) and those have been Psycho Pass and most recently Tokyo Ghoul.

My process is I preview a show that's about to be released for purchase (watch about 4 or so episodes) and then decide if I want to buy it.

The only special editions I have are from NIS, they're complete 20+ episode series and they're the only shows they've dubbed. Also, I didn't get a lot of junk with them.

Paying that same premium price or more for a single season series? For a partial season set? A single release? Not happening.

A complete premium collection that's also available in a compact, cheap collection? How is that a question? And it's compact over cheap, by the way. When buying a show, it's because I want the show, not the brand.

As to why don't I only stream, I'll frame my answer as simple as possible: While I have a couple of sub only DVDs, I have and will always have zero sub only BDs. Also, streaming has yet to catch up to what I can do with nine episodes on a single BD: Freeze frame, zoom, episode skip, audio select, subtitle select, zoom again, pause and play. All within a few seconds, all without the tedium of using the central menu hub.

No loading, no buffering.
If I want to watch a show, I can just stream it but if I want to own a show, I'll own it.
