I'm on the fence about this one. While gender-swapped figures are rare and I don't want to miss out on the chance to get one the uncertainty about it getting a general release along with the price makes me pause. I think I'm going to wait until the painted prototype for the rumored Souko figure comes out before I make a decision(if it's good I might buy both just so I can have the set).

I must have this. Hoping it gets a general release so I can get it on Hobby Search. I guess I can get it from their site if necessary. Loved Ginko when she was in Gintama. Haruka Tomatsu was great as a female version of Gintoki. When I first heard they were making a figure of her, I knew I had to have it. It'll be my first from the G.E.M. series, and frankly probably my only one. There's time to request it so I'll wait on that. Now I'm only waiting on GSC to announce more details on their Nadeko Medusa, my other must have figure.

That figure of "Ginko-san" looks gorgeous! Very well-made indeed. Smile

Why is she called Ginko anyway, the main character from Mushishi was called Ginko, and he was a man.

You do realize that characters from different series can have the same name right? Wanna tally up how many Sakura's there are?

Maybe it's a unisex name, like "Ashley" or "Ryan."

Though more seriously, the "-ko" prefix is commonly used among Japanese people (and Japanophiles, hence "Tailsko") to refer to a female character, similar to how in the west, you'd add prefixes like "-a," "-elle," or "-ina" to a name, like with "Roberta," "Michelle," or "Georgina."

You meant to say suffix. Prefixes come before a word.

Yeah, I mean "suffix." I don't know why I was thinking of the word "prefix," temporarily forgetting the word "suffix" exists.

I don't think the repetition of names in anime was the point, he was questioning which gender the name is for.
