Tales of Producer Wants to Make Games Like Skyrim, Dragon's Dogma

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

Bandai Namco Games America posted a video interview on Monday between community manager Joseph "J" Kartje and Tales of producer Hideo Baba that took place during Tokyo Game Show in September.

When asked in the interview if he always wanted to make games in the JRPG genre, Baba said that the JRPG genre is very unique and he does want to continue making them to "utilize the fact that we are a Japanese developer." He also said that the Tales of series has a long history that he wants to keep going. Baba then said that outside of the Tales of series, he'd like to make an open-world fantasy game similar to Skyrim or Dragon's Dogma.

Baba also talked about funny stories from recording sessions, the unexpected amount of feedback from Western fans, Tales of Hearts R, Tales of Zestria's production process and battle system, and next-generation consoles.
