Paramount's Live-Action Rings Film Delayed to February 2017

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

Entertainment news website Deadline reported on Thursday that Paramount Pictures is delaying the release of its Rings live-action horror film to February 3, 2017. The film was previously slated for a release on October 28 after several previous delays.

Paramount Pictures describes the story:

A young woman becomes worried about her boyfriend when he explores a dark subculture surrounding a mysterious videotape said to kill the watcher seven days after he has viewed it. She sacrifices herself to save her boyfriend and in doing so makes a horrifying discovery: there is a “movie within the movie” that no one has ever seen before…

Paramount streamed a trailer for the film in August.

Rings is a sequel to The Ring and will take place 13 years later. F. Javier Gutiérrez is directing the film, and Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald (The Ring, The Ring Two) are producing. David Loucka, Jacob Aaron Estes, and Akiva Goldsman wrote the script. Alex Roe, Matilda Lutz, and Aimeé Teegarden are starring in the film.
