Team India Wins Prop Making Award at World Cosplay Summit 2022

posted on by Adriana Hazra

The staff of World Cosplay Summit India and Cosplay Genie announced on Facebook on Monday that Team Agni Hana has won the Prop Making award at the World Cosplay Summit event. Team Agni Hana represented India at the competition and is comprised of Rohit Kailasya and Vanna Calista cosplaying as characters from the Monster Hunter game franchise.

The event took place from August 5-7 at Oasis 21, Hisaya Odori Park, Osu Shopping Street, and several other locations in and around Nagoya.

Team India won the Environmental Consideration in Costume Making award at last year's World Cosplay Summit Finals that took place in August 2021. KitsuneBlood Cosplays cosplayed as Kagura and Hotaru Juno cosplayed as Matako Kijima from the Gintama anime.

Cosplay Genie by NODWIN Gaming and AIMAP (Association of Indian fans for Manga, Anime and Pop culture) organized the Indian preliminaries for the competition in 2021 and in 2022.

The WCS event hosted both physical and online events in 2021. The physical event took place at various locations centered around Oasis 21 in Nagoya. WCS included cosplay events with photoshoots and stage events, as well as a video cosplay championship. The event's executive committee includes the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aichi Prefecture, Nagoya City, Nagoya Convention & Visitors Bureau, Osu Shopping District Alliance, Aichi Television Broadcasting, and WCS.

The event canceled its Championship and International Representative events in 2020 due to the ongoing new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, and instead held a "Cosplay Summit Online Presentation."
