The car Benny seen driving was a 1965 Pontiac GTO

In episodes 1 to 4, the ending music used is an instrumental version of the famous American Civil War song “When Johnny Comes Marching Home”. The images shown during the song are taken from Rock, Balalaika and Chang's youth days.

In episode 1, the state of Barinas in Venezuela where Diego Jose San Fernando Lovelace was killed in a bomb attack is the state where late Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez was born. The state is a stronghold of his party.

In episode 1, Benny mentions the MVR. This is a reference to the Movimiento V [Quinta] República or Fifth Republic Movement; a socialist Venezuelan party that was founded in 1997 to support the candidacy of Hugo Chavez in the presidential elections in 1998. The party had supporters in the army as Chavez himself was an army lieutenant colonel.

In episode 2, Eda mentions the name of “Khun Sa” while talking to Chang on the phone. Khun Sa was a real Burmese warlord who fought against the Burmese central government in Shan state. He was nicknamed the “Opium King” because he controlled most of the opium trade in the Golden Triangle region from 1974 to 1994.

In episode 3, Alberto Camarasa tells Roberta that his orders to kill her come from Comendante Marulanda himself. Manuel Marulanda Vélez was the leader and one of the founders of the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia, FARC).

In episode 3, the label of the the pill container that Garcia finds lying on the floor says “Rilalin, Methylphenidate MCl, Novates”. This is a reference to the psychostimulant drug Methylphenidate which is marketed by the swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis under the name “Ritalin”.
