Trivia:
In ep 1 at 5:01-5:04 Totoro is referenced by Ene. For example, acorns and a cat resembling the catbus is shown.
In ep 2 at 15:55, the vending machine has references to other anime. For example, there is a blue penguin like the ones from Mawaru Penguindrum, a straw hat resembling the one Luffy from One Piece wears, and a black Kyubei from Puella Magi Madoka Magica. A close up of Kyubei is at 15:51. Akiyuki Shinbo also directed Madoka.
In episode 4, at about 11:35, the dog that appears at night outside Hibiya's house is a reference to the main dog character “Gin” from the 1983 manga “Ginga – Nagareboshi Gin -” (銀牙ー流れ星銀ー). The dogs that appear later are Gin's friends from the same manga.
