Trivia:

Meitantei Holmes ran for 26 episodes but only 6 of the episodes were directed by Hayao Miyazaki.

The episodes made by Miyazaki can be easily told apart from the rest because Moriarty's henchman, Smiley, has green fur in a Miyazaki episode.

The episodes directed by Miyazaki are: "A Small Client", "Mrs. Hudson is Taken Hostage", "The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle", "Treasure Under the Sea", "The White Cliffs of Dover" and "The Sovereign Gold Coins". (Episodes #3, 4, 5, 9, 10 and 11 respectively.)

Meitantei Holmes is obviously loosely based on the Sherlock Holmes short stories and novels by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Meitantei Holmes is currently the last TV series ever made by Hayao Miyazaki.

"The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle" and "Treasure Under the Sea" episodes were theatrically released with "Nausicaa" in 1984.

The theatrical release previously mentioned had different voice actors, music and names of characters. The names were changed for the theatrical version due to a copyright dispute with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's estate.
