An annual viewer's poll conducted by Animage called 'Anime Grand Prix,' saw Dirty Pair take first place in 1986, taking over one-eighth of the 10,000 votes cast, putting it ahead of Zeta Gundam, Urusei Yatsura: Remember my Love, Touch and Dancougar

ADV has attempted to aquire the license for the Dirty Pair TV series ifrom Sunrise since as far back as 2000. The last time ADV commented on negotiations was in 2006 when they remarked they were still 'ongoing'.

Elements of Star Trek appeared many times, including cast list, uniforms, and models and blueprints of the original Enterprise (NCC-1701).

In episode 5, Kyoko from “Maison Ikkoku” makes a cameo.

In episode 25, among the items Calico has in the saucer skimmer are a white bowling ball, a miniature (doll-sized) Zaku mobile suit from Mobile Suit Gundam, hedge clippers, and a Panzerfaust.

In episode 26, the computer monitor displaying the cross-sectional diagram of the research facility displays a list of movie and television series titles (and other things?): Teppen(?), Tenbou(?), Krull, Sabu Da!(?), Rie Yo(?), Ladyhawke, Aliens, Lifeforce, [The] Hitcher, Creepshow, Police Squad!, Airplane!, Top Secret!, Ninja III[: The Domination], and Poltergeist.
