Trivia:

The story took place between August 5 and 6, 1945, just before Hiroshima was hit with atomic bomb "Little Boy." In reality, however, the ten Ohka sorties were concentrated in April and May of 1945, and no US capital ship had ever been hit. In the end, Ohkas sunk one and heavily damaged two US destroyers beyond repair, killing 149 and injuring 197 US sailors, at the cost of 55 suicide pilots and 365 pilots and crews of carrier "mother" aircraft (mostly Mitsubishi G4M "Betty").
