Chronology:
(1976) Moved to New York at the age of 19. Within a week of his arrival he had found work as a comic book artist.
(1980) He wrote the acclaimed "Batman" story "Wanted - Santa Claus - Dead or Alive!" for DC Comics.
(1986) His "Batman: Dark Knight Returns" comic was published by DC Comics.
(1988) Was approached by New Line Cinema to write and direct "A Nightmare on Elm Street" sequal. He declined due to prior commitments. The same year he wrote "Batman: Year One" for DC Comics.
(1996) He wrote "Spawn versus Batman", a one-shot issue published by DC and Image Comics.
(2003) His original screenplay for Robocop 2 was adapted into a comic by Avatar comics.
(2005) He was inducted into the Will Eisner Hall of Fame.
