 Jean and Nadia begin a new phase of their quest. With a newly repaired flying machine, courtesy of Captain Nemo and the crew of the Nautilus, the young adventurers continue their search for Nadia's true home. Their hopes are dampened when they are shot down over an island by a mysterious attacker.
 Grandis, Hanson and Sanson are marooned on this same island. As they make their way toward the downed aircraft, they are captured by hooded soldiers.
 Jean and Nadia soon learn that the island is under the control of ruthless invaders who have enslaved the native population. Fleeing for their lives with their newfound friend, a young orphaned girl named Mari, their only chance of survival is to find shelter and means of escape from this unsuspected deathtrap. Neither, as luck would have it, is quite so easy to find.
