Captain Marvel Actress Brie Larson Cites Sailor Moon as Childhood Role Model

Captain Marvel actress Brie Larson joins the growing list of film celebrities who talk publicly about the impact anime has had on them. In a YouTube video posted by BuzzFeed Celeb on March 8, Larson plays with puppies and answers fan questions, including "Who were your female role models growing up?"
Larson's answer: "My real life role model is my mom, for sure, and then I loved the Spice Girls. I loved Sailor Moon; I'd, like, come home from school just to try not to miss a second of Sailor Moon. I did read Wonder Woman comics growing up, so maybe some of that."
A tweet highlighting this part of the interview was retweeted by Toei Animation's official English Twitter account, indicating that they appreciate the shout-out.
Black Panther film star Michael B. Jordan is also vocal about being an anime fan, and recently said that anime inspired his performance as Creed in the Rocky spin-off films.
