Duel Masters Card Game Gets New TV Series … in USA

posted on by Egan Loo
Hasbro Studios produces animated series for The Hub TV channel

The Hub, the new television channel from Discovery Communications and Hasbro, announced on Thursday that it will run a new animated television series based on the Duel Masters trading card game during the 2011-2012 season — in the United States. Hasbro Studios is producing the tentatively titled Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters series. The Hub describes the story as the following:

[A] 14-year-old boy discovers a secret world in which mind-blowing creatures rule! These creatures harness special powers that if unleashed, could destroy the world as we know it. It is up to the boy to master his abilities in the ancient art of Kaijudo to protect their world and his own.

The game inspired seven television anime series in Japan: Duel Masters, Duel Masters Charge, Shinseiki Duel Masters Flash, Zero Duel Masters, Duel Masters Zero, Duel Masters Cross, and the ongoing Duel Masters Cross Shock. The Cartoon Network ran the first anime series in the United States.
