Musical Duo ClariS to Make Cameo in Oreimo Novel

Middle-school group to also sing theme song for 9th light novel

The ninth volume of Tsukasa Fushimi's Ore no Imōto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai (Oreimo) comedy light novel series, which will ship on September 10, will feature a cameo by musical duo ClariS, a pair of middle school girls from Hokkaido. ClariS will also provide a theme song for the novel on an upcoming single, to be released on September 14.

ClariS sang the opening theme songs for both the Oreimo and Puella Magi Madoka Magica anime. The Oreimo opening song "irony" sold 14,021 copies to rank #7 during its debut week, and ranked at #6 in the top-selling CD singles by new artists in Japan in 2010.

The story of Oreimo follows the daily life of an ordinary high school boy named Kyōsuke Kōsaka. Kyōsuke's younger sister Kirino is a pretty fashion model — but also a secret otaku of adult games. Kyōsuke is the only person to whom Kirino reveals her hidden obsession and other issues.

Fushimi has been writing the light novel volumes since 2008, and Hiro Kanzaki illustrates them. The novels inspired a 2010-2011 television anime series with animation studio AIC. Sakura Ikeda has been drawing a manga adaptation in ASCII Media Works' Dengeki G's magazine since 2009.
