Supercell Selects 15-Year-Old Singer for Next Album

Koeda sings Guilty Crown anime's opening; fellow newcomer chelly to sing ending

The musical group supercell announced on Friday that the next performer to sing with the group will be Koeda, a 15-year-old vocalist from Fukuoka City. Koeda is singing as the new guest vocalist on the group's still untitled third album. Auditions for the position were held from May 25 to June 19. The virtual idol Hatsune Miku and the human singer nagi had previously performed on the group's albums.

Koeda has also worked with supercell on the opening theme song for Fuji TV's Fall anime series Guilty Crown. The opening theme's title is "My Dearest," and a promotional video with the song is streaming on the official Guilty Crown website.

The group supercell selected another female vocalist to perform in Guilty Crown. 17-year-old singer chelly is singing as the character Inori Yuzuriha throughout the anime as well as in the ending song "Departures ~Anata ni Okuru Ai no Uta~."

The group rose to fame with songs submitted to the Nico Nico Douga video site with synthesized Hatsune Miku vocals. The group then made its debut on a major label with the August 2009 single "Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari," which became the ending theme song for the Bakemonogatari anime. The Naruto Shippūden and Cencoroll anime also used supercell songs. More recently, Toyota began using supercell's "The World Is Mine feat. Hatsune Miku" song for an online commercial campaign in the United States this year. This past July, supercell's music was featured at Hatsune Miku's "Mikunopolis in Los Angeles" concert at Anime Expo.

Guilty Crown will premiere on Fuji TV's late-night Noitamina block on October 13.
