Manga-Based We Were There Films' Themes Sung by Mr. Children

Rock group performs 'Inori ~Namida no Kidou' for next March's 1st romance movie

The male rock group Mr. Children will perform theme songs for Takahiro Miki's two-part live-action film adaptation of Yuuki Obata's We Were There (Bokura ga Ita) romance manga. Mr. Children will sing "Inori ~Namida no Kidou" as the first film's theme song, and the second song's title will be announced in the future.

Both We Were There films will star Toma Ikuta (Akihabara @ DEEP) and Yuriko Yoshitaka (Gantz). The story follows a girl named Nanami Takahashi (Yoshitaka) as she struggles with her decade-long relationship with Motoharu Yano (Ikuta), her high school's most popular boy who has his own issues from his past.

The two films will open on March 17 and April 21 of next year. The Sankei Sports newspaper reported that the two works will be the first Japanese films to open one right after the other but, the Kamen Rider x Kamen Rider x Kamen Rider The Movie: Chō Den-O Trilogy had a similar release last year.

The 14 volumes of the manga have sold over 10 million copies in Japan since 2002. Viz Media published the 13th volume in North America last month, and the 14th volume is slated for release next May. The manga already inspired a television anime series from Artland in 2006.
