Monkey Majik band produces new "Love Chase" song, premiering on Sunday

Singer/actor Tomohisa Yamashita is contributing his "Love Chase" song as the new ending theme song for the Toriko television anime series. It will be the first anime theme song as a solo artist for Yamashita, who commented that it was a great pleasure to experience Toriko's visuals set to his "Love Chase" song.

Monkey Majik, the Sendai-based four-member band who worked on Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan, produced the new song. The song will begin running as Toriko's new ending theme this Sunday. It will also be available as a ringtone on that day in Japan, although the CD release date for the song has not yet been announced.

Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro launched the original Toriko manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, and Shueisha has since published 12 million copies of its books. In the story, the title character Toriko is a "Bishokuya" (gourmet food provider) who travels the world to hunt down the animals and plants needed for the finest cuisine dishes.

Yamashita was once part of the band NEWS. In addtion to his solo musical career, he has starred in Ikebukuro West Gate Park, Kurosagi, and most recently the live-action adaptation of Asao Takamori and Tetsuya Chiba's classic boxing manga Ashita no Joe. He also has a recurring role as the adult Suneo in Toyota's live-action Doraemon commercials with French movie star Jean Reno.

The anime adaptation of Toriko launched last April, and Funimation and Hulu have been streaming the series in North America. The manga, which Viz Media publishes in North America, has also inspired card games, toys, sweets, and PSP games.
