Madoka Magica Gets MasterCard Credit Card

posted on by Egan Loo
Members to get film tickets, exclusive trading cards if they make a contract

The Puella Magi Madoka Magica anime will have an official MasterCard credit card to celebrate the upcoming film trilogy this year. There will be no membership fees during the first year, and the annual 1,312-yen (about US$17) fee will be waived thereafter if the card is used at least once during the year. The anime character Kyubey invites people to make a contract and become a member.

People who become card members by September 20 will be entered into a drawing for 200 sets of special moviegoer passes for the first two Puella Magi Madoka Magica films. (These passes, pictured right, were originally exclusive to the first Anime Contents Expo event, which was held in March.)

In addition, each member will receive a randomly distributed "original premium card" every month; there are eight different cards that will be given away starting in October. People who collect all eight cards will receive an exclusive mounting for them. The cards and mounting feature an original design that cannot be bought or won elsewhere.

The first two films of the Puella Magi Madoka Magica trilogy will open on October 6 and October 13 at Tokyo's Shinjuku Wald 9 and other theaters throughout Japan. Gekijō-ban Mahō Shōjo Madoka Magica Zenpen: Hajimari no Monogatari (Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part I: The Beginning Story) will come first, followed by Gekijō-ban Mahō Shōjo Madoka Magica Kōhen: Eien no Monogatari (Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part II: The Eternal Story).
