Wang Yuanji gets DLC costume for LAWSON's Akikoloid-chan mascot

Koei Tecmo Games and the LAWSON convenience store are collaborating to release a special Akikoloid-themed costume for Wang Yuanji in the Dynasty Warriors 8 (Shin Sangoku Musō 7 in Japan) video game.

Customers who purchase the game from the LAWSON convenience stores' online shop Elpaca will receive a serial code for two DLC items: an original outfit for Wang Yuanji based on the LAWSON mascot Akikoloid-chan, and a weapon for her called “Kōhaku” (Rainbow Beats). Wang Yuanji also received two LAWSON-themed DLC outfits for the previous game in Japan.

LAWSON's mascot Akiko-chan received a synthesized Vocaloid voice makeover in August 2011 to become Akikoloid-chan. Akikoloid-chan acts as a navigator for LAWSON's niconico channel, and she also acts as the company's spokesperson on more than 10 different social media services including Twitter. Akikoloid-chan has since starred in several music videos to advertise the store chain's oden and fried chicken.

Kingdom of Jin's Wang Yuanji (Kanae Itō) will be returning for her second appearance in the series alongside her husband Sima Zhao (Daisuke Kishio) in the 7th installment of Koei Tecmo's Shin Sangoku Musō video game franchise. The game will ship in Japan on Thursday with a Treasure Box edition that bundles an exclusive character 3D crystal (with LED stand), an original soundtrack, and an Omega-Force strategy/character design collection book. The first copies will include a serial code for downloading Zhao Yun and Sun Shangxiang from Romance of the Three Kingdoms 12. Each person who pre-orders a copy will receive one of four exclusive smartphone pouches. The Treasure Box edition retails for 13,440 yen (about US$163) and the standard edition retails for 7,560 yen (US$92).

Koei Tecmo is also partnering with 7UP for a themed costume for Zhao Yun.
