Shin Megami Tensei IV Heads to N. America This Summer

Atlus RPG to retail for US$50 just months after Japanese release

The Atlus role-playing game Shin Megami Tensei IV will be heading to North America this summer for US$50. Amazon's Canadian branch is already listing the game for release on July 16, although Atlus has not announced this date yet. It also gives the following description:

In 1492, the kingdom of East Mikado is protected by high walls, with the castle and its king at the center. A young warrior, 18 years old, has just been chosen to become a Samurai, one who, with the aid of a special tool called a Gauntlet, will serve as a secret protector of the city. It is the duty of the Samurai to exterminate a demon threat of which its citizens are unaware.

However, the situation is not as simple as human versus demon. There are factions within the human group that must be discovered and understood in order for alliances to be formed, paths set, and the destiny of the world decided.

Kazuma Kaneko is in charge of the original scenario and series demon design, and Kazuyuki Yamai is directing the game. Masayuki Doi is handling the character design and Ryota Kozuka serves as the composer.

The game will ship in Japan on May 23 for 6,980 yen (US$75). Customers who pre-order the game will receive a “sound & art collection” for the game. The game is also getting a limited-edition themed Nintendo 3DS XL in Japan.
