Retailer: Izumi Kitta to Star in WataMote TV Anime

Konomi Suzuki, Kiba of Akiba to perform opening theme for anime premiering in July

The Amazon retailer is currently listing that Izumi Kitta (Tantei Opera Milky Holmes' Cordelia, Freezing's Cleo Brand, Brave10's Benmaru) will star as Tomoko Kuroki in the television anime adaptation of creative team Nico Tanigawa's Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! (No Matter How You Think About It, It's Your Fault I'm Not Popular/WATAMOTE) manga series. Amazon's listing is for the television series' ending theme song single "Dou Kangaete mo Watashi wa Warukunai" (No Matter How You Think About It, I'm Not Wrong). Amazon lists that Kitta will sing that ending theme song as her character Tomoko. Amazon also lists that the single itself will ship on August 28.

The anime will premiere in Japan in July. Amazon's description of the single also notes that the anime will premiere on TV Tokyo on July 8.

The official Twitter account for the anime series revealed on Wednesday that 16-year-old Konomi Suzuki (The Pet Girl of Sakurasou, Dusk maiden of Amnesia theme songs) will be collaborating with the "death pop band" Kiba of Akiba to perform the anime's opening theme song under the unit name "Konomi Suzuki n' Kiba of Akiba." The opening theme song will also be titled "Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui!"

The slice-of-life gag comedy centers around Tomoko Kuroki, a girl who thought she would be popular when she went to high school. However, she was in for a rude awakening, for cruel reality is not like the otome games (romance games for female players) she played.

Tanigawa launched the manga in Square Enix's Gangan Online website in 2011, and Square Enix shipped the third compiled book volume of the manga last December. A four-panel spin-off manga launched in January, and Yen Press announced in March that it licensed the original manga for release in North America under the name No Matter How I Look at It, It's You Guys' Fault I'm Not Popular!.
