Kana Asumi Voices New Magical Girl in 3rd Madoka Magica Film

Nyarko's actress voices Nagisa Momoe in October 26 film sequel

The official website for the Puella Magi Madoka Magica franchise updated on Tuesday with a second piece of key visual art for the third film, and it also unveiled a new magical girl character. Kana Asumi (Nyarko in Nyarko-san: Another Crawling Chaos, Popura in Working!!/Wagnaria!!, among many other roles) voices Nagisa Momoe, a magical girl with a child-like appearance. The website teases that nothing is known about what she wished for to become a magical girl, nor why she appears in the third film's storyline.

Aniplex describes the story of the third film, Madoka Magica The Movie -Rebellion- (Gekijō-ban Mahō Shōjo Madoka Magica [Shinpen]: Hangyaku no Monogatari):

[Note: Highlight the text below for the story, which contains spoilers for the end of the television series and first two films]

Madoka Kaname. Once a normal girl who led a happy life, she sacrificed herself to save other magical girls from the cruel fate that awaited them. Unable to let her memories of Madoka die, magical girl Homura Akemi continues to fight alone in the world that Madoka left behind, dreaming of meeting that nostalgic smiling face one more time...

Akiyuki Shinbo and Yukihiro Miyamoto are directing the film at animation studio SHAFT with original character designs from manga creator Ume Aoki (Hidamari Sketch). Yuki Kajiura will be providing the music, while musical units ClariS and Kalafina will perform the movie's opening theme "Colorful" and ending theme "Kimi no Gin no Niwa" (Your Silver Garden), respectively. The main cast will be returning from the television series and previous two films, with Aoi Yūki as Madoka Kaname, Chiwa Saito as Homura Akemi, Eri Kitamura as Sayaka Miki, Kaori Mizuhashi as Mami Tomoe, Ai Nonaka as Kyōko Sakura, and Emiri Katō as Kyubey.

The third film will open in Japan on October 26. The film will then open in the United States, Canada, and France this winter. Aniplex announced at Japan Expo in Paris that the film will debut in France on November 16. Aniplex aims to release the third film in still more countries worldwide, just as it did for the first two films. Japanese theaters will begin selling the second batch of advance tickets, each with one of six different special poster boxes, for 1,500 yen (about US$15) on Saturday.
