Idolm@ster Superfan Watched the Movie 102 Times

posted on by Chris Nishijima
The runner-up only watched it 91 times.

April 11 marked the last screening of THE IDOLM@STER MOVIE: Kagayaki no Mukōgawa e! (To the Glittering Other Side) at Shinjuku's Wald 9 theater. To commemorate the end of their eleven week run in theaters across Japan, Aniplex sent representatives to greet moviegoers. Hosting the evening's event was Yūma Takahashi, the advertising producer for The IDOLM@STER's television anime series. Also making a guest appearance alongside him were four voice actresses from the show: Eriko Nakamura (Haruka Amami), Yumi Hara (Takane Shijō), Manami Numakura (Hibiki Ganaha), and Asami Imai (Chihaya Kisaragi).

Before the show began, Takahashi giving a few statistics about the total run of The IDOLM@STER Movie, stating that since its premiere on January 25, the total number of people who had attended a screening of the movie had exceeded 450,000 moviegoers. Around 41,000 of those attendees were made up of people who had seen the movie at the Wald 9 theater. This led him to ask the audience how many times they had gone to see the movie. While most of those in attendance lowered their hands by the time he asked how many of them had seen the movie over 10 times, one individual kept his hand proudly raised after Takahashi asked "95 to 100 times." It turns out the fan in question had seen the movie a total of 102 times.

Hachima Kikou speculated that the zeal of this gentleman may have been due to the free IDOLM@STER goods that had been presented to ticket holders with each showing, which changed with each week of the movie's showing. The goods included various items, including eleven different clear files, a prequel manga chapter, cuts of the 35mm film version of the movie, four illustrated pin-up sets, a 40 page material book, and nine different autograph boards (five of which were given out during the fourth week, three of which were given out during the seventh week, and one extra large one signed by most of the major cast).

While it was not an official announcement, Yūma Takahashi also mentioned that a second movie was not completely out of the question. In the meantime fans can expect the two new IDOLM@STER singles "Nijiiro Miracle" and "Fate of the World" being released on June 18, as well as the new IDOLM@STER game, The IDOLM@STER: ONE FOR ALL on May 15.
