Anime Japan 2015 to Feature Charity Auction for "Chance to Go 2-D" As Gundam Pilot

posted on by Eric Stimson
Anime studios will include winners in anime illustrations

This year's Anime Japan, like last year's, will feature a charity auction. The 2014 auction featured autographed posters, scripts and illustrations from anime like Yowamushi Pedal, Gatchaman Crowds and the Puella Magi Madoka Magica film series. This year's auction will include these things, along with the "right to go to the second dimension."

What this means is that anime studios will draw the winning bidder into an illustration based on one of their anime. The only participating studio to be announced so far is Sunrise, which will draw the winner as a Mobile Suit Gundam pilot with a Gundam.

The proceeds from the auction will benefit charity organizations promoting earthquake reconstruction. The 2014 auction drew over 1,400 bidders and raised about 14 million yen (or $119,000). Anime Japan 2015 is an anime convention scheduled for March 21 and 22 at Tokyo Big Sight.
