Takeshi Kitano to Launch Online Magazine

Director, comedian, and actor Takeshi Kitano, popularly known as Beat Takeshi, will launch an online magazine featuring his own manga, poems, and an "agony uncle" column. The magazine is titled Owarai KGB and is scheduled for distribution sometime this fall.

Kitano previously published essays in the Tokuma Shoten's Asahi Geino, and they were later collected into a book. Owarai KGB is the culmination of talks with publisher Tokuma Shoten over the last year.

Kitano is no stranger to expressing his opinions. He was honored last year at the Tokyo International Film Festival with the Samurai Award. During is speech he criticized Japan's film industry and expressed a dislike for Hayao Miyazaki and animation.
