Godzilla to Make TV Anime Debut on Crayon Shin-chan

A collaboration episode between anime Crayon Shin-chan, originally by Yoshito Usui, and Godzilla will air July 22. The episode, “It's Shinnosuke vs. New Godzilla,” tackles the puzzling appearance of Godzilla in Tokyo Bay and features a battle between the monster and Shinnosuke and the Kasukabe Denfense Corps.
This is the first time that Godzilla will appear in a Japanese television anime.
As a Godzilla series fan himself, Crayon Shin-chan's director Yuji Mutoh worked with the staff to faithfully reproduce the Godzilla design from the upcoming Godzilla Resurgence film. Sounds from the movie were used as well, such as Godzilla's roar.
To go along with the special collaboration, the upcoming TV Asahi and Tokyo Roppongi Hill's "TV Asahi/Roppongi Hills Summer Festival SUMMER STATION" event, to be held July 16 to August 28 at EX Theater Roppongi, will include a Crayon Shin-chan and Godzilla Resurgence collaboration photo spot.
Other collaborations, such as the ongoing Evangelion × Godzilla art campaign are also in full swing in anticipation for the upcoming Godzilla film. Godzilla Resurgence will premiere in Japan on July 29.
