Treat Your Valentine to Mr. Osomatsu Parfait, Anime Cakes

Japan's otaku retail chain Animate unveiled the latest products in its line of Animate Cafe character cakes on Thursday. The Mr. Osomatsu "Valentine Cafe Set" offers themed parfaits that anime fans can choose for their sweethearts (or themselves).
Mugs in the limited-edition set feature the likenesses of the six Osomatsu brothers and sweet treats. Each 10-centimeter (about 4-inch) chocolate banana parfait perfectly nestles into a mugs. The set also comes with chocolate tea as a chaser for the parfait.
Each parfait set costs 3,996 yen (about US$35). Animate Cafe's Yahoo! Shopping Japan page will begin accepting orders for the sets at 12:00 p.m. JST on Friday.
Rather than parfaits, the rest of the Animate Cafe line offers actual character cakes. Yahoo! Shopping Japan will also begin accepting orders on Friday for cakes inspired by the Yume Ōkoku to Nemureru 100-Nin no Ōji-sama (The Kingdom of Dreams and the 100 Sleeping Princes) and Ensemble Stars! game and anime franchises. Cakes for Diabolik Lovers More, Blood and Magic-kyun! Renaissance are already on sale.

The line of character cakes announced its latest addition on Wednesday: Joker Game. The lineup also includes ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept., Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru, and Tsukiuta. THE ANIMATION character cakes.
All of the cakes come with a character tote bag. Animate Cafe will announce details about the rest of its anime-inspired confections soon.
Anime, manga, and game characters often appear on limited-edition cakes in Japan, especially for Christmas. The bakery AniSugar celebrated with Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, Age 12, Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel, Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Movie -Rebellion-, and other anime cakes last month.
