Ping Pong, Sunny Manga Creator Draws Kenji Ozawa's CD Art

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Manga creator Taiyo Matsumoto has drawn an intense cover for musician Kenji Ozawa's new CD, "Fukurō no Koe ga Kikoeru" (I Hear the Owl's Voice). The same illustration can also be spotted on a large advertisement on the wall of the iconic Shibuya Marui building.

The CD will be released on September 6.

Matsumoto ended his Sunny manga in Shogakukan's Monthly Ikki magazine in 2015. It won Best General Manga at the the 61st Shogakukan Manga Awards last year, and it was nominated for an Eisner that same year, nominated for the Best Comic award at the 42nd annual Angoulême International Comics Festival in 2016 and 2015, and also nominated for a Harvey Award in 2014, and won Slate Book Review and Vermont's Center for Cartoon Studies' Best Graphic Novel prize in 2013.

Since ending Sunny, Matsumoto drew artwork for the picture book 'Iru' Jan with author Naoko Kudō released in July and completed his Louvre's no Neko in Shogakukan's Big Comic Original magazine. The one-volume manga will be released in October.
