IDOLiSH7 Idols Race to the Finish in MAPPA Animated Music Video

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Sparks fly as the boys of IDOLiSH7 race downhill on long boards in the newest animated music video by MAPPA. The music video is the group's third to be animated, not including one-off music videos for their rival group Trigger and the two-character unit Re:vale.

The video was created for the single "Nanatsuiro REALiZE." The song will be released on June 20 with a yet untitled second track. Munehisa Sakai, director of the first two Sailor Moon Crystal seasons and Suite Precure, directed the music video. The video depicts a "youthful story" where idol Riku Nanase begins to isolate himself from the rest of his co-idols before leaving on a trip.

The IDOLiSH 7 franchise includes the "dramatic rhythm action" iOS and Android game produced by Bandai Namco Online, CDs, multiple manga adaptations, and anime series. The game introduced the "MECHANICAL LULLABY" story line starring IDOLiSH 7 member Riku Nanase (Kenshō Ono) and Trigger member Ten Kujō (Sōma Saitō) last year. A new idol group, ŹOOĻ, was introduced in the game's third installment, which launched last April.

The animation studio BONES previously animated the IDOLiSH 7 franchise's "MEMORiES MELODiES" song, and anime studio NAZ produced the "Leopard Eyes" music video for Trigger in 2015. Most recently, Production I.G animated the song "No Doubt," performed by the characters Momo and Yuki from the idol unit Re:vale last May followed by BONES' music video "Daybreak Interlude" by the group Trigger in September.
