5 cm/s Featured Train Station Will Play Heartwrenching Theme

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

if you're looking to stir up some bittersweet memories on your next train ride through Japan, one station will play the heartwrenching "One More Time, One More Chance" song from Makoto Shinkai's 5 Centimeters Per Second film until June 30.

The film features the real-life JR East Oyama train station in Tochigi prefecture. The story's protagonist Takaki Toono tries to go visit his love interest Akari after she moves away to Tochigi prefecture. He takes the train from the station but is continually delayed, as hours build upon hours, due to a snowstorm.

The station will play a piano rendition "One More Time, One More Chance" as background music in the station until June 30.

An exhibition of Makoto Shinkai's works launched last year and recently wrapped its tour in Osaka on April 2. The exhibition included a themed cafe that included a 5 Centimeters Per Second sakura tart and tea set.
