Pass the Polpo Test, Become an Honorary JoJo Passione Gangster

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Hirohiko Araki's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga has appeared as testing material more than once. The plot of Stardust Crusaders was the premise of a geography test for Kokushikan University and the Joestar family also teaches English in an official book series. One test that appears in the manga has no academic knowledge requirements at all, instead it's all about endurance. That's the predicament Giorno Giovanna finds himself in when he approaches Polpo.

A smartphone app is recreating one of the most difficult entrance exams to ever appear in the manga: The Polpo Test. In the story, the villain Polpo tasks aspiring Passione gangster Giorno Giovanna to keep a lighter lit for 24 hours if he wants to join the gang.

The app has recreated this test for hopeful JoJo fans who want to join Passione, too. The virtual version is a little easier than the test Giorno has to pass. Starting on October 12, fans can use a QR code to access the test and must keep their smartphone absolutely still for 24 hours to keep the flame lit on the phone's screen. Successful participants will be entered in a lottery to win one of 30 Passione badges.

"Hirohiko Araki JoJo Exhibition: Ripples of Adventure," an exhibition celebrating the 30th anniversary of Hirohiko Araki's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga, is currently touring Japan. Tickets for the Osaka leg of the exhibition go on sale tomorrow and the event will open in the Osaka Culturarium at Tempozan on November 25.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind premiered on television in Japan on October 5. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind is the manga's fifth part that continues the story from the previous entries in Hirohiko Araki's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga. The story begins when Jotaro asks Koichi to travel to Naples to investigate a person known as Haruno Shiobana, whose real name is later revealed as Giorno Giovanna. The story then follows Giorno in his goal to rise to the top of the Passione mafia group and turn it into a band of honorable thieves.

Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs in Japan.
