Death Note Artist Takeshi Obata Holds 1st Exhibition

Manga artist Takeshi Obata will hold his first ever exhibition to commemorate 30 years in the industry. The Death Note artist's work will go on display at the 3331 Arts Chiyoda gallery in Sotokanda, Chiyoda, Tokyo next summer. The exhibition will run from July 13, 2019 to August 12, 2019.
Obata made his manga debut in 1989 with the work CYBORG Jii-chan G (Cyborg G-chan) in Shuiesha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. He went on to illustrate the Hikaru no Go manga with writer Yumi Hotta before working on Death Note with Tsugumi Ohba. Ohba and Obata would become frequent collaborators and work together on Bakuman. and their current series Platinum End.
Hikaru no Go, Death Note, and Bakuman. were adapted into anime series. Obata also drew the art for the manga adaptation of Hiroshi Sakurazaka's All You Need Is Kill novel which in turn was the basis of the Hollywood live-action film Edge of Tomorrow.
