Nintendo's Shares Fall After Animal Crossing Game Delay

Nintendo of America's president Doug Bowser says the delay was ensure employees have good work-life balance

Nintendo's shares fell by 3.53% on Wednesday after the company announced in its E3 presentation that Animal Crossing: New Horizons would be delayed until March 20, 2020.

Nintendo of America's president Doug Bowser told IGN that the game was delayed "to make sure that our employees have good work-life balance.”

"For us, one of our key tenets is that we bring smiles to people's faces, and we talk about that all the time. It's our vision. Or our mission, I should say. For us, that applies to our own employees," he said.

At the E3 presentation, Nintendo debuted a trailer than showcases the game's deserted island setting as well as its crafting and farming features.

The last main Animal Crossing game, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, shipped for Nintendo 3DS in Japan in 2012 and in North America in 2013. Nintendo has since also released the Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival board game-style Wii U game and the Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer 3DS game. The Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp app game launched in November 2017.
