Occult Magazine Mu to Run Feature on Director Makoto Shinkai

The monthly magazine Mu, which specializes in information about supernatural phenomena and the occult, will run a feature on Makoto Shinkai and his latest film Weathering With You in its October issue.
Weathering With You tells the story of a girl who has the power to change the weather through her prayers. The film makes numerous references to the supernatural, with the male protagonist even getting a job performing investigations of supernatural phenomena for a publication. Mu promises to delve into Shinkai's inspirations regarding the supernatural in a long-form interview. The October issue will go on sale on October 9.
Weathering With You opened in Japan on July 19. GKIDS has licensed the film for North America, and will give the film an "awards qualifying" theatrical run this year before a wider screening with subtitles and an English dub in early 2020.
