Reports that Escaflowne is to be replaced by Nascar Racers

posted on
More news to confirm previous reports of Escaflowne's possible demise on Fox television, Comics Continuum today posted Fox's new Saturday Lineup which has Escaflowne's 11am time slot replaced by Nascar Racers.

In order to build up to the second season premiere of Nascar Racers fox will also be replacing X-Men on Monday Oct 17th through Thursday Oct 21st at 4pm with re-runs of Nascar Racers.

While X-Men will be back to its regular time slot the next week no official word has come from Fox or Bandai about the fate of Escaflowne. However, when asked if Escaflowne had been cancelled an official at the Fox Kids programming department replied that it had not been cancelled and that schedules beyond the 21st of October have not yet been finalised.

Here is the supposed new Saturday lineup, which takes effect on Oct. 28(all times ET):

8 a.m.: Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue
8:30 a.m.: Action Man.
9 a.m.: Digimon: Digital Monsters.
9:30 a.m.: Digimon: Digital Monsters.
10 a.m.: Beast Machines.
10:30 a.m.: Digimon: Digital Monsters.
11 a.m.: NASCAR Racers.
11:30 a.m.: Cybersix.

Notice that Digimon is playing several times, it is possible that Fox Kids is running a partial Digimon marathon on this day and that Escaflowne will return to one of these time slots the following week (Fox Kids is having a Digimon Marathon this Saturday with back to back episodes of Digimon all morning, regular Saturday programming returns next week).

Although the reports of Escaflowne's immenent demise come from sources which have rarely been wrong in the past contradictory reports from Bandai and Foz as well as Escaflowne's ratings make it quite unlikely that Escaflowne is indeed being cancelled.
