Ghibli Museum Tickets on Yahoo Auctions

posted on by Christopher Macdonald
Museum officials dissapointed, nothing can be done to stop the sales.

According to November the 19th of Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Ghibli Museum tickets were found to be put up to auction on the Net. Mitaka City Office, owner of the museum, called on Yahoo! Japan requesting the deletion the entry, but Yahoo! Japan refused because they couldn't conclude whether the sales were of illegally scalped tickets or not. The Metropolitan Police Office said according to the present laws it was difficult to regulate the issue. Ghibli Museum officials commented: "We were very disappointed."

The Ghibli Museum opened on October the 1st. The museum accepts no more than 2,400 visitors a day and ticket must be purchased in advance at local convenience stores. Admission is currently sold out till the end of 2001. One ticket is priced 1,000 yen (for adult) but on the Net auction it went as high as 10,000 yen.
