Bandai to Release Ronin Warriors

Completely out of the blue, Bandai announced the upcoming DVD release of Ronin Warriors. Includes the original uncut version

Completely out of the blue, Bandai Entertainment has announced the April 23rd release of Ronin Warriors on DVD for $24.98.

Originally called "Yoroiden Samurai Troopers" in Japan, Ronin Warriors was produced by Sunrise Entertainment (the producers of Gundam). 39 episodes, two seasons, were produced and aired on Japanese Television in 1988 and 1989.originally brought to North America for television broadcast by Graz Entertainment, and Ocean Studios.

Brought to North America for television broadcast by Graz Entertainment, and Ocean Studios; the dubbed and somewhat re-written, "Ronin Warriors" aired on syndicated television in 1995 and later broadcast on the Sci Fi Channel. In 1999 the series found its way to Cartoon Network where it eventually helped spearhead the “Toonami” block.

Released for the first time on DVD home video, fans of the “Ronin Warriors” series can look forward to the DVD release featuring both the English “Ronin Warriors” series and for the first time in North America, the Japanese “Yoroiden Samurai Troopers” episodes uncut and presented in their original format.

Bandai Entertainment, INC. today announced the home video release of the popular “Ronin Warriors” animated series. Produced by Sunrise studios (Mobile Suit Gundam, Cowboy Bebop), “Ronin Warriors” chronicles the story of five young men forced to fight against an evil Dynasty bent on conquering the Earth. “Ronin Warriors” is set for release on April 23, 2002 – $24.98 SRP exclusively on DVD.


In addition to the TV series, there is also a 3 part OVA series, Bandai Entertainment has not announced anything regarding the OVA series. A safe bet would be that they have not licenced the OVA series but will consider doing so if the TV series sells well.
