Licensing Rumours

posted on by Christopher Macdonald
Hunter x Hunter and Hamelin licensed?

These are Rumours. Don't get your hopes up too high, and don't tell all your friends that these titles have been licensed.

Current internet rumour has it that both Hunter x Hunter and Hamelin have been licensed.

The Hunter x Hunter rumous is somewhat more substantiated atthe moment. Shueisha has filed for two trademark in relation to Hunter x Hunter with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The first for "comic books and comic magazines" and the second for a number of categories: "electronic publications in the nature of comic books, downloadable computer game software", "stationery, trading cards", "action toys, toy action figures, dolls, arcade games, board games, card games" , "entertainment services, namely, providing comics via the Internet, providing non-downloadable games via the Internet; providing information on-line relating to computer games and comics."

The first trademark was filed in July 2002, and the second one in October.

While this certainly suggests that Shueisha has some immediate plans for Hunter x Hunter in North America, it doesn't guarantee anything. It's been over 7 months since the second application and we haven't seen or heard anything official yet.

Today's second rumour is that Violinist of Hamelin has been licensed. Somebody apparently saw it in a catalog somewhere. If anyone has seen this catalog, please let us know.
