Weekend Wrapup - Week in Anime

posted on by Jon Hayward
Quick rundown of some of the more important news of the past week in anime. So sit back, relax and enjoy as it's all here in one place.

Nausicca's Mehve Flying Vehicle – Proof that with some ingenuity, anime can exist in real life.

Death Note beats Da Vinci Code: Apparently the only thing that is more powerful than the Da Vinci Code is Death Note, with WB's release of the film this week knocking the Da Vinci Code from it's top spot.

Bleach Figurines Oncoming: With Bleach about to start on Cartoon Network in the states, they're making the 4" figures found in japan. But Toynami is currently designing a new series of figurines for the series.

Dark Horse Editor on Censorship: The Editor of Cannon God Exxaxion explains the decision to censor volume five of their release and that the ultimate decision is placed in the hands of the creator. Handled much better than CMX with their release of Tenjo Tenge, plus the reasoning in this case seems to be justified.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is reported to have sold over 2.4 million copies worldwide, including 1.3 million in the US, 1 million in Japan and 100,000 in Europe. No numbers on Australia at this moment.

Finally, in additional news, there at least is 2.4 million dissatisfied viewers of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children ;)

Hope you're enjoying the weekend. ST~
