Air Date for New Gainax Series Announced

"Tengen Toppa Guuren Lagaan" airs this April on TV Tokyo
GAINAX has announced that their latest comedic mecha series, entitled "Tengen Toppa Guuren Lagaan" (literally translated as "Center Breakthrough Guuren Lagaan" or "Bullseye Guuren Lagaan"), will hit Japanese airwaves this April on the TV Tokyo networks. No specific time has been announced yet, but more information will be available from the official site in the near future.
The story takes place in an underground city on another planet, where a young boy named Shimon becomes the pilot of a robot discovered by his brother Kamina. Along with a sniper named Yoko, who saves Shimon and Kamina from an attack, the story pits the main characters against a group of villianous giant robots.
The official blog for the series mentions that the Voice Talent were suprised by the content of the show, which could lead to comparisons of the mecha comedy to some of the anime GAINAX has produced in those genres.
