posted on by Evan Miller
Anno directs an all-star cast in dub of Danish film Strings

Since it first debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in 2004, the Danish puppet film Strings, directed by Anders Rønnow Klarlund, has been featured in film festivals all over the world and attracted the attention of animation and film fans alike. One of the directors who was impressed by the film, famous anime director Hideaki Anno (Neon Genesis Evangelion), proposed bringing the film to a Japanese audience. The result is Strings: Ai to Kizuna no Tabiji (Strings: Journey of Love and the Ties that Bind), the full title for the Japanese dub directed by Anno. The film opened in Japanese theatres on April 28th.

The Japanese dub also boasts an all-star cast of Japanese actors, singers and comedians. The cast includes Tsuyoshi Kusanagi and Shingo Katori (of famous pop group SMAP), comedian Hitori Gekidan, actress Miki Nakatani, famous radio personality Katsuya Kobayashi, and many others.

A summary of the film's plot can be found here.
