Anime to feature Gundam unit director Sekita, Earthsea composer Terashima

The newly launched website for the Jyūshin Enbu - Hero Tales television anime series has announced the project's Fall 2007 premiere date, as well as its staff and cast. The first volume of Hiromu Arakawa's manga compilation has been scheduled for August 11, the same day as her Fullmetal Alchemist manga's volume 17.

Hero Tales' original story of mythological fantasy is credited to a Huan Jin-Zhou—an apparent pseudonym based on the Chinese characters for the "Golden Week" holidays. Osamu Sekita, the director of the Heavy Metal L-Gaim videos and a unit director on several Gundam series from the first one to Seed, will helm the project. In addition to drawing the manga, Hiromu Arakawa will be designing the characters that supervising animation director Naoki Sōsaka (Gundam Seed C.E. 73: Stargazer, Naruto) will adapt.

Video Girl Ai and Saber Marionette J's Mayori Sekijima will edit the scripts that Studio Flag (Naruto, Galaxy Angel) will animate. Tamiya Terashima is composing the music after having done the same for Key the Metal Idol and Tales from Earthsea.

Leading the cast as the hero Taitō will be Kenichi Suzumura, a prolific voice actor known for playing Rakushun in The Twelve Kingdoms and Hikaru in Ouran High School Host Club. Banjō Ginga (Gundam's Gihren Zabi, Metal Gear Solid games' Liquid Snake) will play the general Keirō. Acting as Taitō's friend and sparring partner Ryūkō is Takahiro Sakurai (Final Fantasy franchise's Cloud Strife, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion's Suzaku).

Media Factory will sell a limited volume 0 DVD, with a promotional video and a roundtable discussion with the main cast, at Animate stores in Japan and Tokyo's Comic Market 72 on August 17.
