CPM Speaks on Manga License Dispute with Libre

posted on by Egan Loo
Libre picked up titles from former CPM licensor Biblos

Yaoisuki.net reports on comments from John O'Donnell, the co-founder and managing director of the North American distributor Central Park Media (CPM), on the company's dispute with the Japanese boys-love publisher Libre over manga that CPM initially licensed from Biblos. Biblos, another Japanese boys-love publisher, filed for bankruptcy protection in April of 2006, and Libre picked up many of its titles afterwards. However, Libre said earlier this year that the bankruptcy filing invalidated CPM's agreement on these same titles and called CPM's publications "illegal." According to the report, O'Donnell said that Libre has not filed a lawsuit, but Libre has also refused to discuss the issue with CPM. CPM maintains that its licenses with Biblos are still legally binding with Libre.
